PLACE & PEOPLE
Amplifying Honuaʻula's Living Legacy

Honuaʻula is known for its resilient communities, rich fishing grounds, and unique connection stretching from Pōhaku Pālaha down to Molokini and Kahoʻolawe.
The people who called and continue to call Honuaʻula home are respected as hard workers, toiling in the sun and wind to grow what they can.
The ʻŌiwi Resources & Stewardship Department dedicates its time and aloha to the stewardship of Honuaʻula. Through the Kīpaipai Archaeology Program, they have also received additional training and education around place-based archaeological tactics to monitor and ensure the ongoing protection of Makena's preservation areas.
