About Community Engagement at Mākena

Our Community Engagement efforts are centered around being good neighbors. Rooted in the value of intentional reciprocation - we support events in Makena that nurture a deep, shared connection with Makena and the greater Maui island community. We honor the role of humans as younger siblings in our island ecosystem, supporting a sense of filial piety and stewardship in Makena.

Through initiatives like the Kīpaipai archaeological training program and the Aloha Mākena Endowed Scholarship for University of Hawaiʻi students, we invest in the next generation while continuing to support meaningful community events in place.

To date, over $600,000 has been invested directly into the Maui community, helping to sustain vital nonprofit services and programs.

These monetary contributions ensure organizations can continue their important work-covering operational needs and delivering critical support to our island ʻohana. Mākena's Community Engagement remains committed to programming that supports a thriving ecosystem, people and place together.
