Nā Hale o Maui
Nā Hale O Maui is Maui’s first community land trust and a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to securing and preserving permanently affordable homeownership opportunities for low- and moderate-income households in Maui County. Founded in 2006, the organization develops and stewards homes that remain affordable for generations, helping Maui residents build stability and remain part of the community.
“This tournament has become such an important part of our work, and we’re really grateful to Mākena Golf & Beach Club for hosting it for the 10th time. Their support of Nā Hale O Maui’s mission, to secure and permanently preserve affordable homeownership opportunities for low- and moderate-income households, truly makes a difference.
For 20 years, we’ve been creating permanently affordable homeownership opportunities across Maui as the island’s first Community Land Trust. As a small team, supported by an incredible Board and dedicated volunteers, this event allows us to stay focused on developing and stewarding homes while supporting families through every stage of homeownership.
Thanks to this support, we’re excited to be breaking ground this April on seven new homes that will remain affordable, for our community, for generations to come.”

The Species That Gather Us
In a reciprocal relationship of aloha with our native species, they also gather us
Species featured by Nā Hale o Maui and Mākena ʻŌiwi Resources Team

Nalo Meli Maoli (Yellow-faced Bee)
We’re inspired by Hawaiʻi’s native yellow-faced bee, a small but essential pollinator whose quiet work sustains entire ecosystems. Like the bee, Nā Hale O Maui’s superpower is long-term stewardship, creating permanently affordable homeownership that allows families and communities to thrive for generations.

'Akoko (Euphorbia Haeleeleana)
Nalo meli maoli are observed visiting wonderful native species like ʻakoko, naio, ʻiliahi, naupaka kahakai, ʻōhai, ʻilima, and hinahina. For many reasons, ʻakoko is a favorite of our ʻŌiwi Resources Team - it is planted at our Nāulu Farm, it is part of our lowland dry forest restoration efforts, and its milky sap can be used as glue or a sealant for canoes or wiliwili floats. In this way we come together as friends and supporters, in the ecosystem and on land, supporting the ability of the nalo meli maoli to pollinate new forests and homes.
