BEACH ACCESS & PARKING
UNDISTURBED BEACH ACCESS
Kāʻeo is not located on the shoreline. All current beach access to Makena Landing and Maluaka Beach will be preserved and beach comfort stations and showers will continue to be maintained by the Mākena Golf & Beach Club
The Kāʻeo project is also one mile away from Oneloa (Big Beach) Makena State Park and will have no significant impacts to Oneloa Beach.
Existing parking at Makena Landing and Maluaka will remain unaffected. The number of public stalls at Makena Landing will stay the same.
Additional public parking provided along Honoiki Street raising the total to 29 stalls which will include 19 stalls on Honoiki Street and 10 stalls along Makena-Keoneʻōʻio Road.
PLANS TO IMPROVE PEDESTRIAN ACCESS & STREET FEATURES
Honoiki Street will be improved for enhanced safety and will be maintained post-construction
The project has plans to improve neighboring roadways through better pedestrian access, cycling circulation, and additional public parking along Honoiki
The plan also includes improvements to Makena-Keoneʻōʻio Road that includes advancements to sidewalks, landscaping, and bio retention swales.
