Collaboration with Ala Kukui
We have partnered with community-based nonprofit Ala Kukui to launch Noenoe Nights at Mākena, a free workshop series celebrating wāhine (women) as reflections of their kupuna (ancestors). Each gathering highlights the many roles women hold in the Maui community through Hawai‘i storytelling, connection, and hands-on arts and crafts. This event honors Maui’s educators, welcoming female teachers, administrators, and school support staff, as well as kumu (teachers) of hula, the arts, or any social support programs to participate.

“We are inspired by the beautiful ways Ala Kukui is elevating and recognizing place-based knowledge and its inherent interdependence with collective community abundance” says Mākena Golf & Beach Club’s Community Relations Manager, Leahi Hall. “Through these events, we wish to elevate those regenerative relationships that sustain Hawai‘i wellbeing.”
